CHARACTER STAINS
Character Stains
Koch and Company offers a variety of wiping stains that are hand applied and bring out the natural characteristics in wood, which will vary depending on the wood species. Several of our stains are Character Stains, which accentuate the color variations found in wood. This stain technique will give each cabinet its own unique look, with no two doors being the same.
Color differences due to wood tones and grain are to be expected.
Images shown represent the Stone Stain finish and may not be limited to Express Cabinetry.
Stone Stain
Stone stain is one of our character stains and is prone to color variations, resulting in light and dark sections in the cabinetry. This variation can be very pronounced and is ideal for sought after character in rustic settings. Please click on the images below to view it in a larger format.

Birch Wood Species
Birch is a smooth, even grained hardwood that is predominantly off-white with some brown variation giving it a calico appearance. Birch cabinets with a wiping stain, or in a natural finish will not be consistent in color. The ends of the stiles and the cross grain profile in the raised panel will be much darker than the rest of the door. In addition, the face frame, doors, and drawer fronts can be different colors. This is not considered a defect but desired by those wanting a “rustic” look.
Color differences due to wood tones and grain are to be expected.
